OBLIQUE

where Words Meet Art

Oblique is where we pour out everything we’re too scared to say out loud. Every poem, every story carries the weight of hearts laid bare. It’s a place for voices that break, heal, and still choose to speak. In Oblique, we don’t just write; we remember how to be human.

Issue 1: Women In Words

Our inaugural issue sought to reinstate power back to those who were silenced—”Women in Words” is the reclamation of voice, of narrative, of gaze. Bringing sinking breaths back to the surface, this issue encompasses distinct stories through the lens of women, celebrating feminist characters and their nuances as symbols of our genres—the unfaltering clasp Umrao Jaan holds us in through eyes that speak unafraid, shaping political and opinion pieces, the innocence of Heer and her profound love that resides in those who wish to utter the language of romance, the introspective spirit of Ursula that prompts us to pause and reflect, the loud silence of grief through the eyes of Esther, and the rebellious and warm ethos of Annabeth that brings both thrill and adventure.

Issue 2: Icebound Echoes

In a world often considered cold and cruel, we yearn to discern between all the Icebound Echoes. Sharp words and differences in opinion form the cracks that Drift over time. Chaos and adventure makes us tumble and fall under an Avalanche. When the fog clears, we have no choice but to face our reflections, a Crystallised surface to serve as our mirror. In this isolation, we turn rigid, Frost spreading from fingertips to veins. But not all is lost, for winter melts into spring, and our hearts Thaw under gentle warmth.
